FALL IN LOVE
By Krista Chapman
As fall kicked off in Nashville and the air took on a distinct chill, the Nashville City Club was privileged to host the wedding of club members, Donna and Al. A delightful couple from when we first met and they joined the Club, I was so pleased when they decided to host their wedding reception at the Club. They shared a vision of a simple, fun evening with a wonderful meal and relax environment. Together we created this exactly, for a truly memorable evening.
Before our first meeting, Donna had chosen a linen that would become to thread tying all the pieces of the event to each other. Espresso Floral Silhouette Linen from BBJ Linens is a gorgeous look, one of my favorites. This paired with an October date was the foundation for a fall themed wedding with decor, menu and weather to match. The night of the event, the sun set over the city and the Club glowed with candles. Brightly colored flowers in burgundy, orange and reds were centered on each of the guest tables, while a simple three tier white cake decorated with fall leaves sat near the dance floor. As guests arrived they enjoyed a glass of wine and servers passed delicious appetizers. The bride and groom carefully choose three options, shrimp risotto cakes, shaved tenderloin with crayfish butter on crispy polenta and classic tomato bruschetta. Atop the piano, escort cards shaped as leaves hung from a curly willow tree creating a dramatic look.
Donna and Al arrived shortly after guests and were introduced as husband and wife. They were able to enjoy a drink and mingle with guests before dinner was served. The menu was just as amazing as the cocktail hour. Guests were able to choose between sweet potato ravioli, pan seared salmon or portobella and boursin stuffed chicken. A tart salad with spinach, green apples, bleu cheese and walnuts arrive as the first course and guests would enjoy the cake as their third course.
Dancing and drinking would continue into the night. Best men shared stories, toasts and laughs and the night was truly filled with love. Congratulations, Donna and Al!
